In short
- Toolboxes cannot be bought, with money or with Crystals. You win them by playing.
- Every win in an online duel gives a toolbox, up to 3 a day. Its tier is rolled by the server, then each of the three taps when you open it may raise it one tier.
- Overall, a toolbox won in a duel ends up: Cardboard 37.06%, Wooden 30.78%, Copper 16.92%, Iron 8.97%, Titanium 4.26%, Diamond 2.01% (before the pity rule, which only raises the better tiers).
- Pity rule: an Iron toolbox or better at least every 10 toolboxes won in duels, Titanium or better at least every 30, Diamond at least every 100.
How you get toolboxes
- Ranked duel wins: each win in an online duel (against a player, or against the CPU rival the server finds when no player is available) gives a toolbox, except a win because the opponent left the match. The toolbox has a random tier; you get up to 3 per day (UTC). You can have at most 9 toolboxes waiting to be opened; when the row is full, wins give no toolbox until you open one.
- Fixed rewards: the Pass, the league road and achievements give toolboxes of a stated tier. Their starting tier is not random; the three taps still apply.
All rolls are made by our server, not by the phone. Odds are the same for every player and do not depend on spending.
1. Starting tier
| Toolbox | Rarity | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Cardboard Toolbox | Common | 51% |
| Wooden Toolbox | Rare | 25% |
| Copper Toolbox | Super Rare | 13% |
| Iron Toolbox | Epic | 7% |
| Titanium Toolbox | Mythic | 3% |
| Diamond Toolbox | Legendary | 1% |
2. The three taps
When you open a toolbox you tap it three times. Each tap may raise it by one tier (a Diamond toolbox cannot go higher):
| Tap | Chance of going up one tier |
|---|---|
| First tap | 15% |
| Second tap | 10% |
| Third tap | 5% |
The result of the taps is already decided when the toolbox arrives; the taps only reveal it.
3. Final tier of a toolbox won in a duel
Combining the starting tier and the three taps, without the pity rule:
| Toolbox | Chance |
|---|---|
| Cardboard Toolbox | 37.06% |
| Wooden Toolbox | 30.78% |
| Copper Toolbox | 16.92% |
| Iron Toolbox | 8.97% |
| Titanium Toolbox | 4.26% |
| Diamond Toolbox | 2.01% |
4. Pity rule
The game counts the toolboxes you win in duels. If the last 9 did not start at Iron or better, the 10th starts at Iron at least. The same goes for Titanium (at least once every 30) and Diamond (at least once every 100). A counter goes back to zero as soon as a toolbox starts at that tier or higher. The counters look at the starting tier, before the taps, which can then raise it further. Fixed-tier rewards (Pass, league road, achievements) do not move the counters.
5. What is inside
Every toolbox contains Coins and Blueprints, and may contain a new piece and Crystals:
| Toolbox | Coins | Blueprints | New piece | Crystals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cardboard | 14–22 | 8–12 | 0% | 5%: 1 |
| Wooden | 25–41 | 14–22 | 8% | 10%: 1–2 |
| Copper | 45–75 | 26–40 | 15% | 20%: 1–3 |
| Iron | 80–130 | 46–70 | 25% | 40%: 2–4 |
| Titanium | 140–240 | 84–126 | 60% | 80%: 3–7 |
| Diamond | 260–420 | 150–230 | 100% | 100%: 10–20 |
- Arena bonus: Coins and Blueprints are multiplied by the arena you are in when you open the toolbox: ×1.0 in the first arena, then +10% per arena, up to ×1.5 in the sixth.
- Amounts: within each range every whole number is equally likely.
- New piece: chosen among the pieces you don't own yet, whose rarity is at most the toolbox's tier and that are unlocked in your arena. Pieces of higher rarity are a little more likely than those of lower rarity. The Flipper and the Claw come only from Iron and Titanium toolboxes. If no piece is available, you get 50% more Coins instead.
- Complete collection: once you own every piece at the top level, Blueprints arrive as Coins (3 Coins per Blueprint).
